West Village: Trattoria Spaghetto + Molly’s Cupcakes

West Village is one of the coolest neighborhoods in New York – all charming, with a lot of funky places and visited by new yorkers, without many tourists. It’s in the West Village that apartments from Friends and Carrie, Sex and the City, are located. There are many restaurants and cool cafes, shops – and, of course, the atmosphere. Last Friday, I was there for dinner and I’ll talk about it today.

Trattoria Spaguetto – I usually say that I am good eating – I love almost all cuisines: from Brazilian to Indian food. But, obviously, I have my preferences, and one of my favorites is Italian cuisine – maybe is the blood of my ancestors running through my veins, right? How to resist a pasta? It’s the kind of dish that you never get sick about it! So let’s forget Olive Garden – this is not the only Italian restaurant in New York! – and check out a very cool option? Trattoria Spaguetto is a very charming and old restaurant – it opened in 1987! The place serves lunch and dinner and the menu includes pastas like lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti and penne. The best part? Pasta prices cost between $ 12 and $ 15, a very fair value. I could say that, if you don’t order ask for a stuffed pasta – as ravioli – you can even share the dish with someone. In our case, we ordered Panzotti with pesto, a stuffed pasta with ricotta, spinach and nuts, for me, and veal parmigiana, accompanied by spaghetti, for Thiago. We also ordered a glass of Merlot wine – $ 6 – and they served some breads as starters.

Molly’s Cupcakes – near Trattoria Spaghetto, it is located Molly’s Cupcakes. That’s why, in my opinion, you should skip the dessert at the restaurant and save a space to try one of the cupcakes. Molly’s Cupcakes has locations not only in New York but also in Chicago and Iowa. The cupcakes won many awards – the place was chosen as one of 10 best in the country in the cupcakes segment and the Red Velvet one was voted the best of Chicago. The flavors are the most diverse possible: Cake Batter, Creme Brulee, peanut butter Nutella, Cookie Monster. All stuffed and with super generous toppings. Particularly, if you are going to try them eat after dinner or lunch, I suggest sharing the cupcake with someone. They cost $3.75, on average. You can also create your own cupcake – and there are vegan options. If you are a fan of sweets, you will enjoy this cupcake. I liked it, it’s delicious – but it is still not my favorite.
