The Blue Box Cafe – Tiffany’s restaurant in New York City

In November last year, everyone freaked out about the news of the opening of The Blue Box Cafe, Tiffany’s restaurant. The jewelry store is world-famous – who has never dreamed about a blue box like that? – and was also immortalized on the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And that’s why everybody was so happy with the news – because, with the opening of the restaurant, you could, finally, having breakfast at Tiffany’s lol. There were lines – until Tiffany decided to implement the reservation system to control the huge demand. Either way, you can only get a reservation planning ahead. Finally, I got mine and last Wednesday, my friend Juliana and I went to check the place up close!

The Blue Box Cafe is on the fourth floor of Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue. The entrance is through the main door of the store – then just walk up to the fourth floor (there is an elevator). That’s where the brand’s decor department is located – and it’s possible to buy many of the dishes that are used in the cafe. When Tiffany announced the opening of the restaurant and released the photos, I quickly related to the sketch, a famous place in London. One of the most famous spaces at sketch is the pink salon – and, of course, everything in Tiffany is blue: walls, chairs, and dishes.

The restaurant menu has three fixed price options: breakfast, which costs $29, and includes tea or coffee  + fruit or croissant + waffle, eggs, avocado toast or bagel with smoked salmon; lunch, wich coasts $39, including salad and soup and a main course (sandwich, flatbread and salmon, among other options); and the tea, which costs $49, and comes in a tower with mini sandwiches and pastries. As our reservation was at 10:30 in the morning, we choose breakfast. We shared the fruits and croissant and I chose the avocado toast and Juliana got the bagel with smoked salmon. We really enjoyed the food and despite the dishes seem too small we were quite pleased – I could not finish the whole avocado toast.

The Blue Box also has desserts – $12 each – and also has The Blue Box Celebration Cake – $36 !!! – which is a cake in super generous size, in the shape of the Tiffany box. We ordered the cake because yes we wanted to show – however, I would not recommend it. It’s expensive and not worth the money. Besides that, the frosting is too sweet.

Besides this cake detail, we loved the experience! Yes, it is not a cheap meal, but for me, it was an experience that involved the food, the environment, and the place. I think it’s worth – especially in the case of a special occasion.

The Blue Box Cafe is open every day from 10 am to 5.30pm and you have to make a reservation. The restaurant is on the Resy app and I recommend that you create an account – you have to insert your credit card info. The secret to getting a reservation is planning. Every day at 9am, NYC time, the system opens new reservations for 30 days in advance. That’s how I got it, being online on the website exactly at this time. Less than 30 days it is virtually impossible to find some spot – unless someone gives up – and you can set an alarm to be notified if that happens. Click here to book.

Address: 727 5th Ave, 4th Floor.
