Music festivals in New York City

When you think about music festival in the United States, which event comes to your mind? Probably Coachella, right? Placed in California, the event attracts many people and is famous worldwide. I do not know if are the people who attend the festival or California vibes – it seems that life is lighter there, right? – Coachella is the desire of many people. But, do you know that New York has music festivals too? Yeah! This year, more specifically, New York summer will be busy with two of them! Check out the details.

Governor’s Ball – it is perhaps the most traditional of the city. It happens every year, in early summer, on Randalls Island – an island that is located in north of Manhattan, between Astoria and Harlem. The festival lasts three days and this year takes place between June 3rd and 5th , from 11 am to 11 pm. Launched in 2011, the festival features a variety of musical genres and styles, including rock, electronic, hip-hop, indie, american, pop, folk and more. It is produced by Founders Entertainment. In addition to the wide variety of music, the festival features food trucks and restaurants, as well as other activities such as lawn games, photo booths and ping pong. Each day of the festival features more than 20 presentations and this year, the line-up includes Kanye West, The Killers, The Knocks, Mac Miller and others. Tickets starts at $105 (there are packages for the three-day event). The access to the island can be done by walking, by bus or by car, and, during the festival, there will be ferry making the transfer. Panorama – and if you ever wanted a Coachella on the east coast, this is the opportunity. Goldenvoice group, responsible for promoting Coachella in California, is launching a new festival in New York. Called Panorama, the event will last three days and will roll at the end of July, between 22 and 24. And the Randall’s Island will also be the stage of the event. The initial idea was that Panorama would held in Corona Park, Queens, but the project was rejected. Last week, line-up was announced and includes attractions such as Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar and LCD Soundsystem – there will be more than 50 names. Tickets are available now – the package for three days costs US $ 369 and there is no single tickets. For more information, complete line-up and tickets, check out the website.
