A day at Storm King Sculpture Park – version 2015

Those who follow the blog for a little while will remember that last year we visit Storm King Sculpture Park, one of the biggest references in the world in terms of sculptures and modern facilities outdoors, which is located in New Windsor, in upstate New York, about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Manhattan. I wanted to record a video there and as some friends were wanting to visit too, we repeated the trip and spent the day at that magical place. I really recommend you include a day at  Storm King on your travel itinerary – especially if you come to New York during fall, which is when the visual there is wonderful. The colors of the season in contrast to the sculptures create an amazing landscape, I guarantee. And to convince you that this is a must-see program, I bring another photo shoot for you!

For those who want to see more pictures, check out post from last year – just click here. But I’ll write down the basic information here on this post also for those who are excited and want to visit the place:

Transport:
Coach Usa/ Short Line provides bus tours to Storm King, departing from Porth Authority Bus Terminal (42th St and 8 Av.). The bus leaves at 10 am (don’t even think about getting late!) and returns at 4:45 pm. You should buy a ticket online – print the voucher – and change by a ticket at the company’s booth (second floor of Porth Authority). The bus leaves from the fourth floor and let you inside the park. This package coasts $46 and already includes the entrance to the park.

Exploring:
The best way to know Storm King is walking a lot! So wear comfortable shoes and clothing.  I suggest that you first get the train that makes a tour throughout the park – is free, takes about 30 minutes and leaves every half hour from the lift which is close to the museu13m. The train makes a lot of stops and you can leave it or get in. After making the tour, you can explore the areas that you liked. The place is too big!

Food:
Storm King has a picnic area and also Storm King Café, with drinks, snacks, cookies, sandwiches, salads, soups. Sincerely? I think is better to bring snacks and having a picnic there.

And remember! Storm King is not open all year round! 2015 season runs until 11/29. It is necessary to check the website to see 2016 dates, but generally it opens in April.
