The Sosta: Italian Pasta Fast-Casual restaurant in New York City

You know that New York is full of options for those who want a quick bite. What I have observed, however, is that the restaurants want to offer not only that but also a friendly and Insta-friendly space. The decor, the menu, the prices: everything ends up being an essential factor for this type of restaurant. The Sosta comes in this vibe. Opened about three months ago, the restaurant has the creative direction of Samantha Wasser, best known as the co-founder of by Chloe, the casual vegan restaurant that is an absolute success here at the Big Apple. I was there last week to check it out and today I’ll tell you all about it!

Space is great and the decor is very cute – the details even include the bathroom – with free WiFi and small tables outside. All keeping the casual/fast vibe: you place your order at the cashier and they call by your name when it’s ready. Now let’s talk about the menu. The Sosta is an Italian restaurant and what most impressed me was the fact that despite the restaurant having this casual fast food vibe, the pasta is fresh! Yes, they are prepared every day in the morning! There are five options, which include spaghetti and paccheri, with classic sauces like pesto, bolognese, and tomato. Pasta prices range from $10 to $13 in well-serviced portions. I chose the Paccheri Bolognese ($13), and my friend Juliana chose the Zucca Vodka. We loved it! They were delicious! In addition to the pasta, The Sosta also has sandwiches and salads – all in the $10 range.

On the weekends, The Sosta has a Brunch menu, with options that include Avocado Toast ($ 10) and Spaghetti Carbonara ($12). The place is so complete that it includes beer and wine – from $6, plus ice cream and cupcakes to anyone wanting a sweet treat. I enjoyed our experience at The Sosta! The food was ready quickly and the atmosphere is a delight. Also, it is located in a super charming area of the Nolita neighborhood!

Address: 186 Mott Street – open from 11 am to 10 pm, every day (Saturday and Sunday it is open from 10am).
