Best-selling Sephora beauty products in 2016

I don’t know about you, but I love lists! And, particularly, I love retrospective lists. As a beauty lover, of course I loved it when I saw a story on Allure’s website listing the top-selling cosmetics at Sephora in 2016. This kind of information turns out to be a good thermometer – and a good source for figuring out what it’s doing well and what is trending. The complete list is here – I preferred not include the perfumes and some special sets and brought here the categories I thought were more interesting: makeup, hair and skin care.

Let’s start with makeup! Champagne Splits Shimmering Skin Perfector Mineral Blush Duo, from Becca ($38),   Pro Light Fusion Undetectable Luminizer, from Make Up For Ever ($39) and  Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light, from Hourglass ($80) show us that women bought a special makeup product in 2016: highlighters. By the waym Becca and Hourglass are brands that deserve your attention at Sephora. Oh, and the Make Up For Ever highlighter was introduced in the Pro Sculpting Duo, and  finally available on its own. Speaking about eye pencils, Inside Track Eye Kajal, from The Estée Edit ($22) and Aqua XL Waterproof Eyeliner from Make Up For Ever ($21) were the favorites – this last one is waterproof. Sucessfull mascaras were Lashcraft Length & Volume Mascara, from Sephora Collection ($12), that provides volume, and Velvet Noir Mascara, from Marc Jacobs ($26). By the way, the brand’s eyeshadow palette, Beauty Style Eye-Con No. 20 Eyeshadow Palette ($99), with 20 shades, was also a best-seller. For the lips, Bite – a brand that is focused only in lipsticks – was the highlight in 2016, with Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26), with a natural ingredients formula and a lot of bold shades, and Beauty Multistick ($24), that can be used on cheeks and eyes.  The best-selling foundation was Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick, from Hourglass ($46), with a foundation + concealer formula.  Lock-It Concealer Crème, from Kat Von D ($26), concealer inspired by the famous brand’s foundation, was the favorite of the year, with a formula that covers everything. And to take care of brows, Brow Builder, from Sephora Collection ($14), was the one, with waterproof formula.

Speaking of hair, several products made me curious and there are some that I already know. From Bumble & Bumble, we have Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Dry Oil Finishing Spray ($26), a lightweight finishing oil, and the Surf Foam Blow Dry Spray ($ 31), which mixes mousse and beach spray. From OUAI, a brand that was success in 2016 – and I’m super curious to try it – the favorites were Hair Oil, ($ 26) a multipurpose oil, and the Texturizing Hair Spray ($ 24), to give texture to hair. DevaCurl’s SuperCream Coconut Curl Styler ($ 28), which defines curls and moisturizes, was also a favorite, along with Living Proof’s Full Dry Volume Blast ($ 29) to add volume to the roots, as well as Rick Kid Coconut Oil Gel, from IGK ($27), to stylize and help blowdry. And I confess: I was amazed to see that the Morocconoil oil ($ 34) was also among the best sellers – really, the product has established itself as a classic.

Finally, skincare products. I know a lot of people who travel to New York want to invest in this product category – and I still want to make more videos indicating some of them to you – so I thought it was interesting to include the top sellers from Sephora. Products from Fresh, a Boston brand that uses many natural ingredients, have appeared on the list. Among them, the Soy Facial Cleanser ($ 38), for cleaning, and the Vitamin Nectar Mask ($62), a mask with fruit complex. For the eye area, It Cosmetics’s Bye Under Eye Eye Cream ($48) was the favorite, with quick absorption – it was a bestseller with only one month on the shelves of Sephora. In the moisturizing category we have Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer, from Clinique ($29.50), which helps control oiliness. GlamGlow’s masks are a hit in the store and the SuperMud Clearing Treatment ($ 69) for deep cleansing was the 2016 favorite. 2016 was also the year that Sephora bet on Korean Beauty and consumers approved it –  so that the Jelly Pack, From J. One ($42), was one of the best sellers. It is a moisturizer / mask / primer created by a Korean actress to minimize the skincare routine. Still on the list are the Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask from Farmacy ($ 56), a mask that helps moisturize and remove dead cells, and the Sunday Riley’s Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner ($ 55), toner for Oily skin and acne.
