2 new music festivals in New York

After Governors Ball, music festival that has become a tradition during New York summer, and Panorama, an event presented by the same organizers of Coachella and that happens this weekend – you can check a post about the two events here – it’s time to talk about two new music festivals that will take place in New York in the fall. The Roots Picnic and the Meadows Music and Arts Festival held the first weekend of October, with different proposals.

Roots Picnic is a hip-hop and R&B festival organized by The Roots for 9 years in Philadelphia. This year the event will be brought to Manhattan, specifically to Bryant Park, right in the heart of the island, on October 1st and 2nd. The event is being produced by Live Nation and Maverick in partnership with the Bryant Park Corporation and will be curated entirely by the Roots, with headliners that reflect the group’s extensive rolodex and penchant for the unexpected. The first night will feature a headlining jam with D’Angelo and John Mayer, while the second night — billed as a Love Letter to NYC — will be headlined by the entire Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne and Nile Rodgers, all backed by the Roots. Swizz Beatz, Jeremih, Kevin Gates, X Ambassadors, Trombone Shorty and EPMD are also among the scheduled performers, with plenty of surprise guests slated to take the stage as well. The line-up has more than 30 names! Announced and released about a month ago, Meadows Music and Arts Festival is a new festival from Founders Entertainment, also responsible for the Governors Ball. eaturing the very best in hip hop, electronic, indie rock and more, The Meadows will offer a four stage festival experience that is enhanced by a carefully curated food program, artisanal cocktail offerings, graffiti art installations, and more. The festival will take place in Queens, more specifically at Citi Field in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, on October 1st and 2nd – yes, the two festivals take place on the same weekend. Line-up includes names like Kanye West, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper and Kygo. In total, more than 30 names! For more information, tickets and complete line-up, click here
