5 ice cream desserts to try this summer in New York City

After a long winter, summer is here – even before the official starting date. And no, this is not a complaint. We spend so much time with coats and boots that when the warm months arrive, we want to enjoy every moment. And summer matches with what? With ice cream, of course! Real, in my opinion, ice cream goes well throughout the year, but the hottest months are an excuse to try more! You know that New York is the place of gastronomic inventions, right? And this summer, several places are serving very different with the ice cream based desserts. I separated some delicious for you to try!

Ice Cream Cupcake, Silk Cakes – the most cute cake from Instagram now has a new version, far more refreshing. Silk Cakes, a gourmet cake shop, trades out frosting for ice cream with the launch of its seasonal cupcakes this month. Flavor combinations include egg custard ice cream with a butter cookie crust cupcake, lychee with kalamansi glaze and chocolate with Nama chocolate. $5 for one scoop, $7 for a double scoop.

OddPockets, OddFellows – this brioche bread is filled with ice cream and toppings and heated on a panini press. Choose from one of The Sandwich Shop’s signature creations, like cornbread ice cream with cornflake crunch and a blueberry compote (pictured) or bacon ice cream with candied pecan and spiced maple syrup. Speaking of ice cream sandwich, OddFellows is the place for this! $8

Churro ice cream sandwich, Playa Betty – Specializing in California-style beach food, this new Upper West Side spot combines cinnamon sugar-dusted churro  with Dulce Amore Tahitian vanilla gelato. $8

DKA ice cream sandwich, Dominique Ansel Kitchen – cronut creator puts his twist on the classic dessert by splitting a kouign-amann, a French pastry, in half and filling it with a scoop of homemade ice cream, like salted caramel, praline nougat or 70% dark chocolate. $7

Address: 137 Seventh Ave.

Doughnut ice cream sandwich, Sweetchick – you don’t have to choose between a doughnut and ice cream, because a lot of places in New York mixed  both creating an amazing ice cream sandwich. This one from the picture is from Sweetchick, and  includes a chocolate doughnut with vanilla ice cream and chocolate glaze. You can also get one at Carpe Donut, that created FroDo—a donut ice cream sandwich hand packed with organic vanilla Blue Marble ice cream.

Address: Sweetchick – 178 Ludlow St – Carpe Donut – Check Twitter for updates @CarpeDonutNYC.
