Saks outlet in New York!

It has become a kind of trend: major chain department stores are investing in their own outlets. This happened with Macy’s – you can check out the details about the off price store here – and with Bloomingdale’s – you can check out a post about the outlet store here. Lord & Taylor has also opened an off price store in New Jersey – and it should not take a while for a store here. Today, I will introduce you Saks Off Fifth – a Saks outlet that had opened in Manhattan less than a month ago and has become a new shopping destination for those looking for different brands – and good discounts.

One of the great advantages of this store – compared to the others ones in the same style – in my opinion, is the location, with easy access – you can check the address at the end of the post. Before start talking about the mix of products, brands and prices, it is nice to know that Saks has an exclusive Gilt City space,  the first-ever Gilt shop-in-shop. Gilt By Appointment showroom will host weekly flash sales that start at noon each Wednesday.

Let’s move on to what is interesting- products and prices! The store has two floors: on the first floor, you will find handbags, scarves, cosmetics, perfumes, shoes, sunglasses and watches. Bag section has a lot of styles, from wallets to larger bags and includes brands already known as Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Kate Spade, but there is also a wide selection bags from Valentino, Alexander McQueen and Furla. Shoes department is huge, the biggest I’ve ever seen, if it is compared with Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s outlets. The selection is very large, with brands like Vince Camuto, Alice + Olivia, Kate Spade, DVF, Ugg, French Connection. All shoes are divided by sizes and there were styles for summer and winter – boots, sandals, flats, pumps and sneakers. Sunglasses department is also very neat and there are numerous styles from brands such as Versace, Chloe, Prada, Burberrt, Gucci, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Rayban, Givenchy, Kate Spade and Michael Kors. I saw Michael Kors and Kate Spade styles for $60, Chloe for $90, Givenchy for $120 and Rayban for $ 90.

The fragrance selection is not huge, but there are good options from brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Thierry Mugler, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Jimmy Choo and Chloe – besides the fragrances, there was also gift sets. At the men’s department, shoe’s selection is super wide too, with social and sports styles and brands such as Valentino and Roberto Cavalli ($169). At the clothing department, there is a bit of everything: shirts from $39 (brands such as Hugo Boss and Saks), polo shirts, sportswear, ties, suits and coats. At the woman’s clothing department, there is a great selection of night dresses (from $85, brands like Badgley Mischka and Monique Lhuillier) and also skirts, dresses and blouses from brands like Diane Von Furstenberg, Alice + Olivia, Elizabeth and James and many from Free People.

Did you like this post? It’s like I always say: with so many options in New York and plus other stores in this style – like Century 21 and TJ Maxx – sometimes it not worth spending time and money on transportation going to those outlets outside the city. Of course that this is a personal choice, but it’s always good to know the options that exist here, right? Saks Off Fifth is located at 125 East 57th Street – subway lines 4, 5, 6, F, N, Q, R.
