With so many off price stores in New York, it is not always necessary to go to the Jersey Gardens or Woodbury outlets! I have shown here on the blog a few choices of discount stores in the city – you can see part 1 here and part 2 here – and also Bloomingdale’s outlet, which has be opened a few weeks ago – and you can see the post here. And Macy’s also entered in the of off price stores market and opened a Macy’s Backstage store a few months ago here in New York. I was curious to check out the brand mix and prices! Saturday, I was there and I decided to shoot some deals.
Macy’s has opened two stores in this style here in New York – one in Brooklyn and another one in Queens. From Manhattan, the nearest stores is in Queens, Queens Place, a mall that also has stores like Target and DSW Shoes, easy subway access, about 20 minutes from Manhattan.
The store is super wide and kind of organized – if you already visited off price stores, you probably know that organization is not always mandatory. There are clothing, lingerie, perfumes and cosmetics, bedding, bath and home lines, decorative items, shoes, handbags, accessories … On the clothing, there are coats, gym clothes, some evening items, as well as clothes for babies and children. Men’s section has many dress shirts, blazers, basic T-shirts and underwear, everything from brands like Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Levi’s and Tommy Hilfiger. As you can see from the photos, prices are attractive! I liked the decor section, with many items for kitchen and home for good prices. With time and patience, you can find a lot of cool stuff. Furthermore, eyeglasses from brands like RayBan were availables from $ 79 to $ 99.
As I mentioned earlier, Macy’s Backstage is in Queens Place – 8801 Queens Blvd – and you cant get there by R and M lines (M line does not run at the weekends!).
